“Asarraiz” is the performance by our 2025 professional class in circus arts, presented on December 20th and 21st of that year at Galpão Cine Horto.
Directed by Marcelo Tchelo Guno and Lucas Castro, the performance delves into the fundamental duality of existence: the impulse to fly and the need to take root. The artists move between the ethereal and the concrete, making poetry out of the body, memory out of risk, and shelter out of movement.
On stage, a dialogue between opposites unfolds: the root that sustains and protects, the wing that breaks and liberates. The performance celebrates this encounter, revealing that flight only happens because there is ground, and that the root only flourishes because there is a dream.
Using multiple circus techniques that evoke the lightness of air and the strength of the earth, “Asarraiz” takes shape in the artists — trees that rise towards the sky and birds that carry with them the memory of the ground from which they departed.
An invitation to experience the circus as a space of fall and rise, silence and vertigo, memory and future.
